As communities across North America prepare for another summer marked by record-breaking heat, severe storms, drought, wildfires, smoke, and growing strain on critical infrastructure, Laudato Si’ Movement North America will convene Catholics and people of goodwill for a virtual gathering on Wed., Jun. 24, at 7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. PT to explore how resilient, faith-filled communities rooted in synodal listening can help address the environmental and social challenges of our time.
At a moment when many are experiencing uncertainty about the future, the gathering will focus on the power of relationships, local networks, and shared action to foster hope and strengthen communities. Participants will reflect on practical and spiritual ways to build connections that can sustain individuals, parishes, and neighborhoods amid increasing climate disruptions.
Drawing inspiration from Pope Leo XIV’s first encyclical, Magnifica Humanitas, the event will examine how listening, solidarity, and a commitment to the common good can help shape a more just and sustainable future. In the encyclical, Pope Leo writes, “True progress always stems from a heart open to others, an intelligence willing to listen and a will that seeks what unites rather than what separates.”
The 90-minute online gathering will bring together participants from across the continent to share experiences, learn from one another, and explore how faith communities can respond to today’s challenges with courage and hope.
