“Disregard for the duty to cultivate and maintain a proper relationship with my neighbour, for whose care and custody I am responsible, ruins my relationship with my own self, with others, with God and with the earth. When all these relationships are neglected, when justice no longer dwells in the land, the Bible tells us that life itself is endangered.” ~Laudato Si’, 70
We see that these relationships are horribly broken right now. Heartbreaking violence is being carried out upon people in Minnesota and beyond.
Yet our Gospel calls us to step into these moments with courage and deep love for all of God’s creation, people and planet.
We invite you to prayerfully consider taking the following actions today, in solidarity with our Minnesota Chapter and our collaborators:
- Contact your Senators and urge them to vote no on further funding for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) unless there are clear and just guardrails to ensure human dignity and family protection. Calling is best, or you can use this action alert from Ignatian Solidarity Network. The vote is scheduled to happen this week.
- Read this powerful sign-on letter from our Minnesota Chapter, and consider adding your voice, as a call to solidarity through subsidiarity.
- Join Taken, Broken, Shared: Catholic Witnesses Today – a national collaborative call for Catholics taking place tonight at 5pm PT / 8pm ET. Register here.
This weekend, Cardinal Tobin asked us, “How will you help restore a culture of life, in the midst of death?” It is an honor to work towards this culture of life with you.
Together in prayer and Gospel hope,
Anna Johnson
